The following post is from my other food blog, Grand Forks Gourmet, but since quite a few of us who live in Fargo-Moorhead travel to the Twin Cities quite often, I thought I’d share it. It’s my first meal at the Butcher & the Boar in Minneapolis and is easily one of the best I’ve ever had, likely top three.

John Alexander’s
I was looking for an early dinner in Moorhead and, as I’m slowly ticking off my list of must-try places, I immediately thought of John Alexander’s in Moorhead. When you’re coming to Moorhead from Fargo on Main, it’s pretty much the first thing you see on the south side of the road, so it was one of the first restaurants I told myself I had to try.

Boppa’s Bagels
The bagels were my copilot.
Barreling down I-29 and back home for a few days before the start of a new semester, I wanted one. I decided to wait, but it was tough.
The aggressive scent of onion and garlic permeated my car, pushing me to drive faster in order to get to my toaster and smear one with butter, a steaming cup of strong coffee nearby to wash it down.
I may like bagels a bit too much.
Babb’s Coffee House
Looking for a “Taste of Seattle” in landlocked Fargo-Moorhead? Well, I’ve never been to Seattle but I know a good coffee shop when I see one.
Babb’s is a pretty big place on Main Ave. in downtown Fargo, with nice leather couches and comfy chairs to waste away a Sunday afternoon sipping serious coffee and nibbling a croissant or bagel sandwich.
Seriously Overrated GF Joint Coming to Fargo
I might make a few enemies saying this.
But it must be said: The Red Pepper is not good. It is terrible. The only time it can be justified is if you’re drunk off your ass at 2 a.m., stumbling into the shabby restaurant and ordering three of everything.

Cafe 21 Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar
Inside the 25th Street Market in Fargo, there are two restaurants: LeeLa Thai and Cafe 21. Having heard of LeeLa before, I headed there for a quiet dinner after finishing more apartment set-up. There will likely be more, but I had to take a break and eat.
LeeLa Thai was buzzing, with every table full. I noticed a card for Cafe 21 at the hostess stand and noticed it was in the same strip mall, so we headed there instead. Continue reading
